Planning a Party for You Pup? Here is a yummy treat idea to keep those pups snacking happily. It also is a great party favor to send home with your guests.

Sweet Potato Jerky is are a naturally sweet and chewy treat that dogs love. Sweet potato jerky provides vitamins, and minerals and fiber making this a healthy treat as well.

Ingredients:

3 Large Sweet Potato wash and dried about the same shape/size works best

Steps:
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Cut your sweet potato in half lengthwise.
4. Place flat side of halved potato onto your cutting board and slice into 1/3 inch lengthwise pieces. Do not cut thinner than 1/4 inch.
5. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
6. Bake for 3 hours turning over halfway through.
7. Cool completely on a wire rack.

Storing:
Keep refrigerated up to two weeks. Store the additional in the freezer up to 4 months.

Tips:

-If you cut the slices thinner, shorten the time in the oven. The longer the pieces are in the oven, the browner they will become.

-Slice as evenly as possible to ensure cooking at the same rate.

-Selecting potatoes about the same size and oval in shape help with the cutting and the cook time.

-You can adjust oven time to dry it further for a more "crisp" treat but the orange color will fade.

-Test a treat with your dog as with any new food for allergies.

-Cute packaged for a favor bag!!

-Since it is only sweet potato, it makes a great snack for human guests too!

No Bake Dog Treats

by Cheryl

No-Bake Puppy Peanut Butter Treats

Want an easy to make, "no-bake" treat for your puppy? Here is one that we tried and modified just a bit to make it an easier dough to mold.

1/2 cup low fat milk

1 cup peanut butter

3 cups rolled oats

2 Tablespoons Bacon Fat

Directions:

1. Combine milk and peanut butter and bacon fat in a mixer or small chopper until a paste forms.

2. Place mixture into medium sized bowl.

3. Add oats 1/4 to 1/2 cup at a time. This helps the oats distribute evenly through the mixture. The mixture will be thick.

4. Press into silicone mold and refrigerate for an hour. We used a silicone mold from Ikea.

Another option if you don't have a mold is to spoon out and roll into bite-sized balls.

4. Place on a wax paper or parchment lined cookie sheet.

5. Let chill in the refrigerator for one hour.

Tip: Adding the bacon fat keeps this from crumbling when shaping balls.

Feed your puppy with a Kong? These make great Kong plugs to keep the food from falling out too fast and a yummy treat at the same time.
